Skylar Commission
Markers and Pencil Crayons
2016

Despite spending so much time on a computer, I still love doing traditional work. This piece was commissioned for a first birthday. Usually, people want Josten poses or fixed shots, but I enjoy candid moments when I do commissions. I hope when others see this piece, they see that a moment of her own personality was captured as opposed to a constructed scenario. This isn't a "SMILE" picture, it was an "I'm already SMILING" picture and you caught it. :P

Also, call me nostalgic but working with markers and pencil crayons reminds me of elementary school, where I would draw on lined sheets of a paper. I love doing these commissions. It's a fun exercise that is as much therapeutic, as it is expressive.

My Brief Bio

Holding credentials as a graduate from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, and Seneca College’s Digital Media Art program, Eric Tigley has spent many years walking a thin line between illustrator/designer, fine artist, and educator. Realizing that these career paths were all related in the realm of communication, Eric pursued a career that incorporated the art of visual interaction and learning. Also, having been born and raised in the Jane and Finch area of Toronto, Eric realizes the importance of community and social change.
